so we celebrated 2 days later when she

came over for Thanksgiving! Her favorite- German Chocolate

for Steve's b-day on the 27th.

November is a busy month for us! Besides the two b-days

mentioned above- Spencer (our 2 yr. old grandson) was born

on the 24th and Phil's b-day is the 30th.

In tribute- Steve was born on his father's b-day and he

passed away 3 yrs. ago.

Where is Malta?

To celebrate 100 years of the LDS church

being organized in Malta, Idaho, the Thompson

Family participated in a show (directed by Janie)

Steve's Grandfather(J.Henry) served as a Bishop

here from 1947-1961 and was appointed Postmaster

on July 1, 1921 and retired in 1961 serving 40 yrs.

John Ernest Thompson and his wife Jane Bosomworth

traveled from Harrogate, England to be with the Saints

in America. John's parents disowned him for joining the

Mormon church and marrying beneath his station.

They were called to settle in Malta.

Now our daughter Amber and family live in Harrogate

and so we feel it has come full circle once again.

WE APPRECIATE THEIR SACRIFICES IN OUR BEHALF!

Holstein Heaven...

While visiting Idaho we stayed with the Zollinger Family

in Declo( close to Burley) This is how I could roll...

Monica was kind enough to show me the ropes (sort of
speaking) She's 'hands on' meaning no gloves!


These calves had problems such as a birth defect or a
broken leg so I felt sorry for them and wanted to check
on them often.


Here she is... Bonnie- my Idol... she does everything!
From feeding newborn calves, baking, running errands,
tending kids, smiling, lots of baking and being organized.


A newborn Calf- he is heavy-
about 80 lbs.

we were roomies at Ricks College and she now lives

in Idaho Falls- so she drove over to meet me!

Moments of Reflection....

Friday- Nov. 5th, 2010

Today was one of those beautiful days-

especially for a wedding at the Orlando Temple.

I made the trek myself to be with the Rosier Family.

Originally Steve was going with me but had to stay

for work (Big client in town) and Audrey had wanted

to join me but it didn't work out for her either-

so off I went and it was a 'great day'

Sometimes you just need that alone time to appreciate

what you have- witnessing a temple marriage

helped me realize once again the importance of my

eternal companion and that a part of me is not

complete without him. Seeing this young couple

kneel across the altar from each other- starting a

new life and then a short time later- an Elderly man knelt

in front of his wife in a wheelchair- both showing

tenderness and love in their faces for each other and I

thought- 'This is what it's all About...' Peaceful and Serene....

"WARSHING" CLOTHES RECEIPE

Years ago an Alabama grandmother gave the new bride

the following receipe:

this is an exact copy as written found in an old scrapbook-

Build fire in backyard to heat kettle of rain water. Set tubs

so smoke wont blow in eyes if wind is pert. Shave one hole

cake of lie soap in boilin water.

Sort things, make 3 piles:

1 pile white, 1 pile colored, 1 pile work britches & rags,

To make starch, stir flour in cool water to smooth,

then thin down with boiling water. Take white things,

rub dirty spots on board, scrub hard, and boil, then rub

colored don't boil just wrench and starch.

Hang old rags on fence.

Spread tea towels on grass.

Pore wrench water in flower bed. Scrub porch with

hot soapy water. Turn tubs upside down. Go put on

clean dress, smooth hair with hair combs. Brew cup

of tea, sit and rock a spell and count your blessings.

For you non- southerners- wrench means- rinse :)
